Description
Carnelian is a red-orange Chalcedony, arranged in fibrous layers, and is part of the quartz family with a hardness of 7 on the Moh Scale. The best specimens come from India, Brazil and Uruguay, although some specimens can be found in Madagascar.
Carnelian was believed to give the wearer courage in battle and was worn by soldiers in ancient times, as an amulet for victory. Carnelian also helps the wearer to have the courage to speak both forcefully, and eloquently. Carnelian imparts courage and leadership and awakens the vital energies of the three lower chakras, thus increases a zest for life. A fantastic aide for those in the creative arts.
