Author
Haukur Halldórsson born in Iceland in 1937, studied art and graphic design in Copenhagen and worked as a graphic designer at the start of his career. His practice gradually turned towards the fine arts and the studies of north European folklore and Norse mythology to which he has dedicated his artistic life.
He is one of the original members of the Asatru Fellowship, Iceland’s heathen religious association, and one of the people instrumental in reviving it. Today, his art and life revolve around heathendom and folklore.
Author
Gunnhildur Hauksdóttir is the daughter of Haukur and is an Icelandic artist living and working between Iceland, Denmark and Germany. She and her father adhere to heathenry, or Asatru, as viewed by the Icelandic Asatru community. H Hauksdóttir grew up in heathendom, surrounded by folkloric illustrations, stories, poems and nature.
For the Yggdrasil deck, father and daughter came together with illustrations and their readings to enable the deciphering of the message of the mythologies and folklore and to make it accessible for readers.
