Amazonite is an alkali feldspar, a potassium aluminum silicate with a hardness of 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale. Its crytal system is triclinic and prismatic. Its color is green or blue green. Amazonite derives it name from the Amazon River in Brazil, where the important deposits can be found.
