Key to Theosophy

Key to Theosophy, designed by HPB affords a general perspective on the Theosophical teaching she presented in in her writings. The Key was published in 1889 in answer to students wanting further elaboration on key principles of theosophy. It was written "to trace the broad outlines of the Wisdom Religion," as HPB wrote.

Key to Theosophy is in the form of questions and answers - a dialogue between an Inquirer and a Theosophist.  It explains the fundamental principle and meeting at the same time the various objections raised by the average Western Inquirer. Unfamiliar concepts are presented in clear language, and as simply as possible.

The Key to Theosophy is especially valuable for its extended discussion of what happens after death, and for the analysis of man's psychological nature. The book is a faithful copy of the Original Edition.

Helena Petrovna Blavatsky (fondly known to students of Theosophy as HPB) was born on August 12, 1831, at Dnepropetrovsk (Ekaterinoslav), Ukraine.  Daughter of Colonel Peter Alexeyevich von Hahn and novelist Helena Andreyevna (née de Fadeyev) HPB was direct descendant of Eric the Russ.  In 1849 she married N. V. Blavatsky, and shortly thereafter began more than 20 years of extensive travel, which brought her into contact with mystic traditions the world over. She was the principal founder of the Theosophical Society in New York City in 1875 and devoted her extraordinary literary talents to its humanitarian and educational purposes until her death in London, England, on May 8, 1891. Along with writing her several books, H. P. Blavatsky kept up a voluminous correspondence and also contributed a steady stream of essays and articles to periodicals in English, French, and Russian.
