Excerpted for Fountain-Source of Occultism
Time-honored rules of ethical and spiritual conduct are presented along with warnings against pitfalls of psychic development. There is no shortcut to wisdom, no instant enlightenment, for inner unfolding cannot be induced artificially. While the path toward conscious union with our inner divinity demands the utmost devotion, fidelity, and perseverance, it is also 'bright with joy, and lighted with the fires of the spirit.' This book reproduces the first two sections of Fountain-Source of Occultism, so that the seeker may have readily to hand an inspired vision of the path before him.

Author
Gottfried de Purucker
(1874 - 1942)

G. de Purucker born in 1874 at Suffern, New York, was son of an Anglican minister who later served as chaplain of the American Church in Geneva, Switzerland. There his studies specialized in Hebrew, Latin, and Greek in preparation for the ministry. However, subsequent study of the early Church Fathers, Eastern philosophies, and Sanskrit led him to theosophy. Dr. de Purucker was head of the Theosophical Society from 1929 until his death in 1942. Perhaps his greatest contribution to spiritual thought has been his elucidation of the writings of H. P. Blavatsky.
