Red Jasper is a microcrystalline variety of Quartz, a silicon dioxide mineral with a hexagonal crystal system and a hardness of 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale. The word Jasper is derived from Greek to mean spotted stone. 

Origin: Main deposits can be found in Brazil and U.S.A.
