Amazonite is an alkali feldspar, a potassium aluminum silicate with a hardness of 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale. Its crystal system is triclinic and prismatic. Its color is green or blue green. Amazonite's name derives from the Amazon River in Brazil, where there are important deposits.
